Epigenetics is the study of how environmental factors impact gene function. External influences such as diet can produce profound changes to gene expression by altering epigenetic function. Our lab is focused on understanding how epigenetic mechanisms play a role in mediating disease states such as obesity and autism spectrum disorder using animal models.
